Circus Camp - July 25 - July 30 (1st - 10th grade)
Calling all circus stars of tomorrow!
We're thrilled to be bringing Circus of the Kids back to
Camp Shalom this summer! Circus of the Kids travels around
the country, teaching circus arts to children of all ages.
It is the only program of its kind in the United States,
and the JCC is proud to host the Circus of the Kids. During
this week-long Specialty Camp, campers are transformed into
CIRCUS PERFORMERS!
In small groups, circus campers learn and practice the art
of one of fifteen different circus acts, from trick roller
skating, trapeze, fire-eating and aerial ballet to mini
trampoline and other circus routines.
When campers are not practicing for Circus of the Kids,
they participate in a broad range of other circus and camp
activities, like the Circus Games, learning how to clown,
mime, juggle, arts and crafts, swimming, sports and much
more!
At the end of the week, the circus stars of tomorrow proudly
present a full-fledged, professional circus performance
for their fellow campers and community, complete with costumes.
Circus Camp Sign Ups
10- 1st grade, 25- 2nd-3rd grade, 28- 4th-6th grade and
15- 7th-9th grade circus stars are invited to participate.
Spaces will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
A waiting list will begin once age group spaces are filled.
Circus Camp registrations will only be accepted at the Palm
Beach Gardens JCC Camp Office, www.campshalom.org or by
mail.
The Circus of the Kids staff place participants in acts
based on the camper's performance on Placement Day. Circus
staff does its best to ensure all rehearsals are held between
the regular camp day (9am-4pm) – however, due to the
nature of the week some practices could be held between
4:00-8:00pm each night.
Important Dates for Circus Camp
Sunday, July 25th - 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Mandatory placement day and Parent Orientation.
** All performers must be at this placement meeting to eligible
to perform in the circus. Anyone who does not attend will
not have a role in the circus.
Monday, July 26th - Practice begins! Participants
could practice any time between 9-5. (Schedule will be distributed
after placements)
Thursday, July 29th - 7:00 p.m. - Circus
performance
Friday, July 30th - 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
